CWM’s First Supperclub with a twist!- June 2013
It was a night to remember! Our small group of friends spent the first half of the night in the kitchen with Mama Roberta rolling dough, deep frying fritters, and stirring up fragrant Brazilian dishes. The second half of the night was spent around a the dinner table feasting on our culinary creations while engaging in conversations which constantly erupted in laughter! Thanks for a great first supperclub – it’s a promise for a second to come!
Feature in Eyedea – May 2013

What advice do you have for others looking to begin a start-up while still holding onto their day jobs?
I keep a quote close to my heart that says, “if you want extraordinary results, you must put in extraordinary efforts.” Starting a venture will take over your life, but if you believe in the objective of your venture enough and promise to love your venture even through the hard times, you’ll find your way to success. Cooking classes only make up 2% of what I do, the other 98% is all the leg work that goes behind the cooking classes – such as finding and training the mamas, pitching to potential clients, developing our social media presence, and liaising with community groups in the hopes to find partnerships with local kitchens. Make sure you love what you do, the rest will follow!!

Interview with The Will To Create – February 2013
Cooking With Mama sat down for an interview with The Will To Create.
“My advice is to just go for it. There is never a right time and you are never really going to feel fully prepared. You are always going to think ‘I can do more research or spend more time on this plan’ but at some point you have to bring you idea to life, you just have to pilot, and try!”

Emerge Conference – Sunday 28 October 2012
Cooking With Mama is excited to join the Emerge Conference Marketplace at on Sunday 28 October 2012 from 13.00-15.00. Taking place at Oxford University’s Said Business School, the Emerge Conference is a two day event bringing together some of the world’s most influential social entrepreneurs who are changing the world. A few of the organisations include Acumen Fund, Volans, Aravind Eye Care System, Access to Energy Shell Foundation, Emerge Venture Lab, and Twitter. Jennifer attended this incredible conference two years ago as a participant and is excited to return, alongside Stephanie, as a venture to share what Cooking With Mama is all about and how everyone can get involved! See you there!
Emerge engages and connects university students and young professionals aspiring to drive transformational change, with current global change-agents leading entrepreneurial ventures, businesses and sector-defying organisations. Emerge is about “what’s next”: the big ideas, the future leaders, the driving forces challenging the status quo. It brings to the forefront that which is emerging: new models, markets and movers of transformational change.
Over the two day gathering, participants learn from leading global entrepreneurs about their innovations to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges. Emerge centres on learning and action; it is a space to gain skills and resources to launch a new venture, to design intrapreneurial or entrepreneurial career pathways, and to provoke new ideas for creating a more sustainable world.
The event is co-designed and co-organised by The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School and Student Hubs, a student-led organisation working in universities across the UK to engage students with social and environmental issues.
